Our 4th league game of the season comes against Kent United with Parkwood still seeking our first league win. Dee (1st team keeper) was deputising for Romeo, who was away for the weekend. It didn’t take long for us to realise that the pitch wasn’t the greatest, meaning that the ball will bobble quite a bit, making it very hard to continuously play with the ball on the floor. After a fairly even start, Kent made the breakthrough as a long ball from a Parkwood corner was chased down by their striker who lobbed it over Dee to his teammate who had an easy tap in for 1-0. They soon added a second when a shot from a fair distance out just squeezed into the corner past Dee to double their lead. Overall, in this half, we tried the long ball which didn’t work, and just couldn’t find the final ball to score. But a miskick from the keeper fell to Daniel who tapped in to give us a foot back into the game just as the half time whistle went.
The second half started and we played a bit better, yet they restored their 2 goal lead after a ball through found their striker who beat Dee at his near post. Our heads dropped a little bit, but we kept going and still found a way through as a corner for them turned into a counter attack for us, which was finished off by Alex, who ran all the way from centre half to give us a chance to get something out of this game. But unfortunately they got their 4th as another long ball wasn’t dealt with, and the striker rounded past Dee to give them a 2 goal lead with about 10 minutes left which put the game to bed. Overall, we felt this was a game that we could have won, but unfortunately very little clicked for us in this game.
