Parkwoood lose 5-goal thriller

Our second game of the season and we are away again, this time to London Legends. Again we were a little light on numbers, but we still have to perform at a good enough level if we want to get a decent result out of the game regardless of the number of players we have. Charlie had agreed to go in goal for us for this game under the assumption that Romeo would not be able to play the game, but he was able to as it turned out, so out of respect for Charlie, we tried Romeo outfield. As the game started, we were a lot more solid compared to last week, we held our shape more and they found it difficult to break us down. They got in behind a couple of times, and we did as well, but nothing came of them. So, we went into halftime drawing with London Legends, with the only thing we need to improve on being our attack.

The second half was underway, and we started to find ourselves in more promising positions than before, but so did they. And they opened their account for this game following a good save from Charlie, but the rebound was tucked away. Soon they doubled their lead as they broke down via the middle of the pitch, and a shot that clipped Charlies legs dribbled over the line to make it 2-0. After we started to get more chances for ourselves and eventually found the back of the net, after Romeo’s scuffed shot found Ciaran at the back post who slotted the ball past the keeper to half the other teams lead and kept the game in the balance. The game had about 20 minutes left and we kept pounding on the door, but we couldn’t quiet get through. Then with about 5 minutes left, a free kick found their centre back unmarked at the back post to restore the two-goal advantage that they had. With only five minutes left, there was still the possibility that we could get something, and we did as Adams finish from about 20 yards out made it 3-2. But that was the last kick of the game. Overall, a more consistent performance, but our shape off the ball still needs a bit of work.
