Away vs Dulwich Village Orange 11Feb24

Today’s game saw us up against Dulwich Village Orange; a side like us challenging at the top of the league as we head into the final 5 games.
Dulwich were similar to BPR in the sense that they moved the ball really well, but they didn’t create many clear cut-chances or shots in what was a very tense and tight first half. However, with 5-minutes of the half remaining, Parkwood opened the scoring when Ciaran’s cross was palmed by the keeper, the ball fell to Arthur who set the ball back to Jude whose shot-come-pass found Ciaran at the back post for a 1-0 lead. This was quickly doubled a few minutes later when Matt played the ball through to Jude whose low finish into the far corner gave us a 2-0 lead at half-time.
The second half started and they came out pressing us a lot, and they pulled a goal back within 5-minutes as they won the ball about 20 yards from our goal, played in their striker who slotted home. We came under attack and couldn’t get close to their goal, and they scored a second following a loose ball and scramble in the box following a corner, and the ball was stabbed in for their equaliser. The game started to open up and it was end-to-end but Dulwich completed their turnaround as an own goal from a corner meant they took the lead in this game. Dulwich then got their 4th as a shot from outside the box took a huge deflection and found the back of the net for 4-2. At this point we were looking for a way to get back into the game but just couldn’t find it and with time running out it looked like this was going to slip away. But we did finally get something as a corner was not cleared from Dulwich and with a high bouncing ball Kurt was able to head in with only 2 minutes left for 4-3. However the final whistle came soon after and a really tight match ended with a win for Dulwich Orange.
Well done to Jude for a wonderful MoM performance, capped with a goal and an assist.
