Lions maintain perfect start to the season.

Match report by Ciaran Larkin.

We come to Fleetdown for the 2nd game of the new season after our win over Kidbrooke Knights. Having lost to Fleetdown in a pre-season friendly, we knew this would be a tough fixture but we had a gameplan going into this match which we would try and stick to if we can. The game was underway and we had started quite brightly, and we found our first goal very quickly as Arthur's first shot was blocked but his second found the bottom left corner from just outside the 18 yard box and in only a matter of minutes we found ourselves 1-0 up. The first half aside from that was a game fought mainly in the midfield, as Fleetdown were a side who had a few older players than us due to us both being in the senior league of Selkent. There were fouls made by both sides, but Fleetdown didn’t quite have the final pass or shot which they were looking for, we had a couple of chances of our own with Ciaran putting a free kick over the bar and Arthur doing the same with a header. We went into half time only 1-0 up with the game still anyone’s, so we knew we had to sure up the midfield and be more clinical up top. The second half kicked off and we knew what we had to do. Fleetdown were still in the game as they were getting through our midfield but they just couldn’t find the shot on target that they needed. But for us the 2nd goal went our way as Harley’s corner was flicked on by Ciaran and the ball fell for Harry to volley from close range to double our advantage. The game was still not done as one Fleetdown goal would give them the momentum back. We were still holding firm in this game and were able to see this out for a 2-0 win and kept our 100% record, this result was a reflection of Kurts’ Man of The Match performance, solid at the back, won everything and kept calm throughout the entire game. So a massive well done to him. Next week we are back home for a game against Hayden, who like us have won both games so far, and with our history with them, it is going to be a good game
