MARCH

Our league campaign end officially last weekend, and despite the high winds we completed our league obligations and came through the match injury free, which was the priority for us with Holland in mind.

I have now officially got relegation on my football CV, which is okay. My view is in the long term not a bad thing, as when you are down the bottom, you learn more about yourself as a coach and more about the characters of your players within your squad.

I am not proud we got relegated but I am proud of our squad for showing, on the main a positive outlook and despite results and injuries etc, they fulfilled their league and cup commitments and improved on disciplinary record from last season (which was an objective we set out to do at the beginning of the season) and picked up silverware in the 5 a side format of the game.

It is too early to judge what the impact from this season will have on next season (if any), however on Thursday, it was encouraging that a large majority of players turned up for training although our league campaign has finished.

The short term plan for the players is to carry on with light training until the end of the month. This will be followed with a break until early May, where by then we will know our itinerary for the tour by then and we will meet up for a team meeting and light training beforehand.

I am glad we have experienced the L&SERWFL and we have learnt a lot from our time in this league, some of which I intend to take into the SECWFL Premier next season a league I know well, but suspect has changed in our two year absence.

Behind the scenes, I can confirm that before Christmas I wrote a document titled Adult Football – Moving forward, which is basically my action plan to for next season, this outlines three key objectives recruitment and retainment, management support and adult well Being /safeguarding. Now the season is finished, over the next few months of the closed season, I will set out and try and deliver on it.

One of the changes for next season will be a new club website www.parkwoodrangers.co.uk which is has been set up to promote the whole club. Please note it has been agreed that the ladies will continue using this website to support recruitment and retainment, but this site will be phased out in favour of the 2019/20 season.

I have also been working behind the scenes making the final preparations for the tour, everything is now in place except the confirmation of the ferry, as I am waiting on one player to renew her passport, I am confident that I will have completed my list of tasks to do completed by the end of this month.

The coach and accommodation have been paid for and the insurance will be paid for later today.
I can also confirm that this tournament is endorsed by FIFA and our team has been sanctioned by The FA and London FA to participate in Brabant Cup. It is too early to receive competition details and a final itinerary yet, however I do know via social media that 8 different countries will be represented across all age groups, including us representing England at this tournament.

Not much more to feedback on, all that is left to say I will update any news on both websites as and when required.

Enjoy the weekend
Andy
